Outam Aface
Client: Outam Aface – a conceptual music festival
Work: poster design including concept, name, layout, typography, decorative elements and colors
Tools: Photoshop, Illustrator
Outam Aface is an electronic music event held at Bislett Stadion in Oslo, featuring DJs Ipsum and Lorem. I developed the entire visual identity and concept from scratch, aiming to create a bold and contemporary design that speaks to a young and energetic audience.
The event’s name is a clever play on the phrase “out of my face,” but written as “Outam Aface.” This subtle wordplay acts as an Easter egg that invites curiosity and conversation, making the event more memorable and generating buzz through clever marketing.
The poster uses a high-impact neon color palette with vivid yellow for the event title, paired with neon pink and deep green accents. These colors were selected for their ability to grab attention and evoke the vibrant energy of the nightlife scene while maintaining visual harmony.
A defining design element is the fluid, abstract mesh pattern in the background. It adds depth and movement, subtly referencing sound waves and the immersive experience of electronic music without overpowering the layout. The flowing lines also guide the viewer’s eye across the poster, connecting key typographic elements.
Typography is carefully chosen to balance the energetic colors. The bold uppercase type for the event name ensures instant recognition, while the outlined numbers and supporting text add contrast and structure. The clean, modern typeface enhances readability and fits the overall contemporary aesthetic.
The composition is structured to establish clear visual hierarchy. The event name, date, and location are given prominence, ensuring the essential information stands out. The layout’s rhythm and balance reflect the music-driven theme.
This project highlights my ability to combine concept, color theory, and typography into a unified brand experience. The design not only captures the event’s energy but also positions it strongly within Oslo’s competitive live music landscape.
